Changes to Open Invest – client communications

Skills: Copy editing in line with brand and tone of voice guidelines, proofreading, communications campaign.

Brief: Barclays had moved two of its key investment services to a new provider, so they to contact thousands of investors across the UK. This was the all-in-one guide to the changes.

Background: I worked in Barclays offices for two months, as part of their communications team. Working with senior staff across the business, as well as the data and digital teams, I gathered content and information for tailored customer letters. I managed the writing, editing, approvals and additions, and produced associated web content. Finally, I edited and reworked this information guide.

Tone: The subject matter was complex, so the aim was to make it as readable as possible.

Barclays Jersey Boat Show banners

Skills: short form copy origination in line with brand and tone of voice guidelines.

Brief: A series of themed banners promoting Barclays’ products at the Jersey Boat Show.

Background: Client provided images and asked for appropriately nautical, short captions to draw attention to service ranges and encourage people to find out more.

Tone: light, but delivering key messages

Brief: collate and create copy for a flexible reps’ pitchbook.

Background: Some information in draft form, some links to online information, Some notes about suggested content .

Tone: Simple, clear, easy to present.

Background: Rough copy provided and developed in collaboration with every member of the Barclays team.

Tone: Succinct, informal, approachable, conversational.
